Valid HTML 4.0!

1. Search the net for some photos you like - animal, actor etc. Afterwards open IrfanView and open one of your photos. We will be trying out some modifications you can do to the photograph:

  • convert your photo to a greyscale, make a horizontal flip and a right-turn to it; save it as YourName1.jpg
  • change your photo to a negative and put a red border around the canvas ("Canvas size" option); save it as YourName2.jpg
  • try the "Enhance color" option to change the color of the image and afterwards resize the image to half of its original size; save it as YourName3.jpg
  • try applying each of the effects on the photo; save them as YourName4andMore.jpg

Save each of your attempts with the images separately. Apply new effect always on a new image so you can see the results more clearly. When saving, save all pictures from todays class into a folder PhotosMyName.

2. Open a photo in IrfanView again - this time you may use whichever effects you wish to create a result that you like. Again - save your work to your folder.

3. Open LogoMotion and one of your photographs. We will try some of the tools that Imagine offers for working with images. Try the following options:

  • blur part of the image
  • coloring part of the image
  • make parts of the image lighter or darker
  • try to make parts of the image smoother and other parts sharper
  • you may even paint something into the photograph using the tools for painting and drawing

This time do all these modification into the same image and save it into your folder.

4. After you have tried out all the different tools in LogoMotion, open a new photograph and this time try to create a more artistic design to it. You may even paste parts from another image into it, use any effects we practised and even write some text into it. Your design can be an advertisement, a poster or any little project that presents something (it can be presenting you as well, if you are on the photograph, or it can be presenting an event that is captured on the photograph). Let your fantasy become creative.

5. We will talk now a bit about what compressing the files mean and why do we use it.
Find the folder in which you have your pictures on the disc (it should be under your name in letter H), select all pictures you created today using Ctrl or Shift, right-click on the selection and choose an option "create new archive" or "send to ZIP". A new icon appears with the name of your folder and an extension .zip. This is the compressed file. Your task would be to open now your emails and send this file to palkovaj@yahoo.com as an attachment.
