Search your memories for last year's topics on working with text - we can format the font, font style, font color... we can work with different alignments of a paragraph and we have learned how to insert some graphicsinto our texts. Now we will combine our knowledge and create following project:

  1. Search the Internet for an Aesop's fable.
  2. When you find one you like, copy it into your text editor and format the text and paragraph. Use your fantasy. The title and author's name should be formatted differently from the rest of the story. You may get some inspiration from this picture.
  3. When you are done with the basic formatting, we will create a nice background for the fable. Go to the graphics tool bar and have a look at AUTOMATIC SHAPES. Choose one you like and color it's background using the tools of the graphics tool bar. You may get some inspiration from this image.

Search the Internet for (at least) nine images on your favourite topic. Save them and create a gallery following these steps:

  1. create a table with three columns and three rows (use table-icon or table > insert > table)
  2. insert an image into each of the cells (insert > image > image from file)
  3. adjust sizes of the cells and images
  4. insert two more rows - one between the first and second and one between the second and the third row
  5. make the borders of the table invisible
  6. center the table
  7. create a title using WordArt
  8. save your image gallery

Make up your own crossword puzzle similar to the example. Search the Internet for the images (questions of the puzzle) and save them. Then create the crossword:

  1. go to tables > draw a table
  2. using the drawing tool create first the net of the crossword
  3. using the eraser tool erase parts you do not need
  4. color the backgrounds of the cells - the result should be in different color
  5. using the numbering tool create the set of questions below the crossword puzzle - insert one image per number
  6. format the numbers, write the question for the puzzle...
  7. save your work and send it to palkovaj@yahoo.com
